The Girls on the Run Coleman Team will be baking treats to sell on Friday, May 3 right after dismissal to help raise funds.

The girls chose the department themselves as the beneficiary of this year's community impact project, an integral part of the program's national curriculum.

The Coleman Team has raised thousands of dollars cumulatively in years past for the Glen Rock Dog Park, Ellen DeGeneres' Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and Eva's Village in Paterson.

"We wanted to show the girls the importance of giving back on a local level so that they could see the direct impact their efforts would have on the community," the team coaches said in a joint statement.

"They do all the work each year and we couldn't be more proud."

Girls on the Run Bake Sale: Friday, May 3, 3:20 p.m., Clara E. Coleman Elementary School (outside first grade doors), 100 Pinelynn Road, Glen Rock.
